Due to the forecast of rain, we are moving tonight’s Pride picnic and service to our beautiful sanctuary at 303 Dodge Avenue in Evanston. Bring a picnic dinner but no need for blankets or chairs- we’ll gather around JRC’s tables for a beautiful and unconventional service. All the heimish, casual feeling of our Lakefront Shabbat with none of the risk of getting wet.
JRC Pride Picnic and Shabbat
6pm Picnic | 7pm Service
Join us for a beautiful Shabbat led by Cantor Howard Friedland with guest d’var giver Bruce Koff.
Former Executive Director of Horizons Community Services (now Center on Halsted), Bruce has been a pioneering advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community since 1977 and was inducted into the City of Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame in 1994. Click here to read more about his incredible impact on the fields of social service and mental health relating to the LGBTQIA+ concerns. We are so lucky to have Bruce and his husband Mitchell Channon in the JRC community.
On Pride Shabbat, we raise up our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and gender-expansive members. We honor the struggle for LGBTQIA+ Civil Rights and full acceptance into Judaism. We celebrate all of your identities and appreciate the gifts that queer Jews bring to our community.
Services will be livestreamed on the JRC Facebook Page for those preferring to join us virtually. You do not need to have a Facebook account to view this service. If you have any questions, email info@jrctogether.org.
