Kabbalat Shabbat Potluck and Tu Bishvat Seder with Rabbi Rachel Weiss and Cantor Howard Friedland including Junior Choir

January 26 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Drawing of Three hands supporting a tree

Tu Bishvat has developed into an ecological holiday that reminds Jews of our connection to the Earth and our role as caretakers of the environment. Join your JRC community to celebrate with a potluck dinner followed by a seder led by Rabbi Rachel Weiss and Cantor Howard Friedland with a special performance by JRC’s Junior Choir.

Following the seder, there will be a program where you can learn the progress of our efforts to repair the environment and how we, collectively and individually, can help protect our planet for future generations.

Elliot Rossen and Jerry Herst will share highlights from 2023 and explore ways we can become more involved, whether through one of the many environmental- or climate-oriented organizations or in various ways in our own lives/homes. This will build on previous Climate Action work done within JRC—so many opportunities for learning and having an impact!

As in past years, there will be special programming for the children with our Director of Education during the more adult-focused presentation. We invite you to encourage friends who are not yet JRC members to experience the warmth and rich community at this ritual. All are welcome!
