Kehillah Chodesh Shabbat

December 2 @ 3:30 am - 7:00 am

Chodesh Shabbats are Saturday mornings with a menu of experiences for the JRC community, from prayer to community building to discussion to interactive learning activities. This year, Chodesh Shabbats will include times for the whole community to be together as well as times for segments to gather for focused activities. Each grade will have one Chodesh Shabbat with an age-level family activity that connects to the classes’ curriculum. At the end of the morning, we’ll gather for a social action project and an oneg!

The whole community is invited to join us at Chodesh Shabbat, Kehillah’s family day. This Saturday is filled with something for all ages!

  • 9:30-10:00 am        Tot Shabbat (see calendar event)
  • 9:30-10:10 am        Kindergarten-6th grade family Shabbat service
  • 10:30-11:30 am      Family learning program for 1 of our Kehillah classes (more information coming soon!)
  • 10:30-11:30 am      Adult learning with Rabbi Rachel Weiss – Celebrating Chanukah with children is fun and filled with joy. And the children’s version of the story leaves out some parts! Learn about the adult version of the Chanukah story, with more nuance and maturity. What can Chanukah mean to us, as adults? How can this holiday shed light on how we stand up to antisemitism centuries ago and today?.
  • 11:40 am-noon       Social action project – This month we’re bringing light to others by making cards to brighten their day – for Chanukah or anytime. The incredible, heartwarming feedback from the last set of cards we made inspired us to do another Chanukah-themed round!
  • Noon          Potluck oneg featuring JRC member-made Chanukah latkes
