STILL ON, JOIN US! | Lakefront Pride Shabbat Service & Community Potluck with Rabbi Rachel Weiss Joined by Natalie Blaser, Danny Zeckhauser, Fred Weinstein, & Eddie Stone

It’s Pride Shabbat!! Now more than ever, we lift up our trans, lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, intersex, and gender-expansive members. We honor the struggle for LGBTQIA+ Civil Rights and full acceptance into Judaism. We celebrate all of your identities and appreciate the gifts that queer Jews bring to our community.

Our Pride Shabbat service will be led by Rabbi Rachel Weiss. Danny Zeckhauser, Natalie Blaser, Fred Weinstein, and Eddie Stone will provide musical accompaniment, and we are thrilled to welcome some of Evanston’s queer clergy who will be joining Rabbi Rachel for the d’var Torah.

Tonight we’ll be having a Potluck dinner, so rather than bringing your own picnic, bring a vegetarian, nut-free dish to share.

All summer long, JRC moves our sanctuary to the Evanston lakefront, with outdoor services surrounded by nature and the beauty of Lake Michigan. This spiritually uplifting (and child and dog-friendly) service feels a bit like summer camp, a bit like Ravinia, and entirely like JRC. Bring your family and friends. Lakefront Shabbat is a wonderful opportunity to learn about JRC. Services will be livestreamed on the JRC Facebook Page for those preferring to join us virtually. Click here to access our digital Lakefront Shabbat Siddur.

We meet Fridays at Elliot Park with a few exceptions. Check our our evolving Lakefront Shabbat calendar. We’ll be adding details about musical accompanists and member d’var givers throughout the summer.
