Lakefront Shabbat Vayinafash led by Brad Moldofsky and the JRC Pop-Up Jam Band, with Sara Polonsky Leading Prayers

August 15, 2025 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

All summer long, JRC moves our sanctuary to the Evanston lakefront, with outdoor services surrounded by nature and the beauty of Lake Michigan. This spiritually uplifting (and child and dog-friendly) service feels a bit like summer camp, a bit like Ravinia, and entirely like JRC. Bring your family and friends. Lakefront Shabbat is a wonderful opportunity to learn about JRC. Services will be livestreamed on the JRC Facebook Page for those preferring to join us virtually.

Tonight will be an extra special Lakefront Shabbat as we jam at the lakefront for a summer Shabbat Vayinafash led by Brad Moldofsky and the JRC pop-up Jame Band, with prayers led by Sara Polonsky. Bring an instrument and join the band or enjoy the gifts of our community at this service that feels a bit like a spiritual hootenany. This Shabbat experience is different from our typical Lakefront Shabbat, but will include an opportunity to pray for healing and remember our loved ones with kaddish.

We meet Fridays at Elliot Park with a few exceptions. Check our our evolving Lakefront Shabbat calendar. We’ll be adding details about musical accompanists and member d’var givers throughout the summer.

In the case of inclement weather, check this calendar listing after 4:30pm on the day of Lakefront Shabbat for updated information.
