Rosh Chodesh Shevat

February 2 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Rosh Hodesh, translated as the “head of the month”, is a time to mark the start of a new month in the Jewish calendar. Historically, it is a minor holiday where women would refrain from work. Each month we gather to explore a variety of relevant topics in a creative and thought-provoking celebration. All adult JRC members or individuals considering membership (13 years and older), who identify as women, are welcome to participate.

Shevat is the month associated with the first blossoms of spring in Israel and the celebration of Tu B’Shevat – the new year for trees. February is also the month where we participate in Jewish Disabilities Awareness, Acceptance, and Inclusion Month (JDAIM). JDAIM is a unified effort among Jewish organizations worldwide to raise awareness and foster inclusion of people with disabilities.  Our Rosh Hodesh study this month will focus on the writings of Noami Ortiz, a Poet, Writer, and Visual Artist whose work focuses on self-care, climate action, and disability justice. Ann Dolinko, Linda Mathias Kaskel, and Emily Harris will be our study and prayer leaders.

Please note, the Zoom link for this Rosh Chodesh has been shared in the JRC Newsletter.

If you need additional information or an accessibility request, please contact Linda Mathias Kaskel at info@jrctogether.org
