Where To Age – a JRC Discussion Group
You are invited to join an informal group gathering at JRC once a month to share and learn from each other about the WHERE of aging. Regular gatherings occur first Sunday of each month from 10am-12pm in the JRC Double Classroom on the second floor.
Join us this month for a conversation led by JRC member David Kleiman, on Lessons We Have Learned Growing Older. What are you experiencing as you have grown older? Has this changed how you think about yourself, your family and friends, your larger community? What advice would you give others who are growing older?
We ask that you refrain from bringing food or drinks into the building in observance of Passover. Thank you!
What?
A circle of folks listening to each other’s stories and sharing their own.
A place to share your thoughts, questions, personal experiences, ideas and concerns about the “WHERE” of aging.\
A place to be heard and supported by others.
A place to benefit from the accumulated knowledge of everyone in the group.
Story and Discussion Possibilities
The WHERE of aging is complicated and involves many, many decisions. But just to get started, here are a few thoughts:
My priorities for life as I age (health care, safety, financial security, avoiding isolation, etc.). What is most important to me? Least important? What would be a “deal breaker”?
Is it possible for me/us to “age at home”? What are the barriers and how can I/we overcome them? Are there barriers that cannot be overcome?
If not at home, then where? How do I judge “retirement community” options? What should I look for, given my priorities?
