6pm Young Family Shabbat with Morah Debbie: JRC Early Childhood Center, First Floor
6pm Community “Picnic”: JRC Small Sanctuary, First Floor
6pm Ice Cream Truck Honoring Our Life Cycles: Atrium Under the Stairs, First Floor
7pm Lakefront Shabbat-Style Service with Aufruf and Naming Rituals: JRC Main Sanctuary, Third floor

New this summer! Bring your family to the lake, and welcome in Shabbat each week with the magical Morah Debbie. What makes Shabbat so special? We’ll give you the ingredients, with singing, dancing, stories, prayers, friends, and nature. As we come to the end of a long, busy week, take a deep breath as a family and as a community. This service is geared towards children 7 yrs. and younger, along with their parents and grandparents, but we think kids of all ages will love spending Shabbat with Morah Debbie! The ruach (spirit) and joy of a JRC Shabbat will stay with you in the week to come—t’s all about “fun Judaism”!

No need to register- just show up with a blanket or lawn chairs. This interactive service takes place alongside our community picnic, so bring a picnic dinner and hang out for a while after the service! After that, we invite you to stay for our camp-like Shabbat evening service at 7 pm. Be there for all, part, or none of the service—playing and running around is encouraged at Lakefront Shabbat!

Young Family Shabbat at the Lake with Morah Debbie is open to all! No need to be a JRC member. Feel free to bring your friends and family (and friendly dogs are welcome too!).

Debbie Heifitz Porter is truly captivating with children and families. She has years and years of early childhood experience and is a beloved Kehillah teacher at JRC.
